QUARRY POOL section: work by invited artists and Ausable Center staff
While the 66 Diggory paintings in the main exhibition show a breadth of locations and types of water within the watershed, a section of the gallery zeroes in on one location: Quarry Pool Falls, 3.5 miles north of Lake Placid..
The works by the invited artists and Ausable Freshwater Center staff reveal quite a range of perceptions of that place.
The exhibition should inspire viewers to explore Quarry Pool as well as the entire watershed with the mindset that there are a multiplicity of ways to perceive a location:
- the whole scene or a few relationships visually for color, texture, light
- the kinds of plants that grow, the things that live in and by the water
-- the history of the location,
--the way that water has carved the streambed
and many more ways to pay attention
